 The romantic resort of Wilderness lies 15 km east of George, between the Kaaimans River in the West and the Goukamma Nature Reserve in the east. Wilderness is bordered by the Outeniqua Mountains in the north and the warm Indian Ocean in the south.
Wilderness is a favourite venue for waterskiing because it not only overlooks the ocean, but also the placid lagoon (Touw River Estuary), the Serpentine, Island Lake and Rondevlei.
Wilderness also offers scenic walks along the beach and the beautiful Island Lake nearby for motor boats or yachts. It has also become a popular stop for well know seafood restaurants. For the art lover there is a craft market on the last Sunday of every month held by the parks board at the park along the main road.
