Spring Program In regards to our Spring Program, that will be taking place this week, we've had a number of golf members contact us stating that they were unaware of our maintenance plans. This information was communicated as early as April and re-iterated again in our last newsletter to give all golf members adequate notice of our intentions for the course. The purpose of the newsletter, created by the team at Pinnacle, is to provide information, news and updates regarding our Resort. It is imperative that you take the time to read the content as it will assist with planning your trip to Pinnacle Point and ensure you do not coincide with golf course programs or large group bookings. We would also ask that you update us on any email address changes. Any members who are part of a syndicate are also asked to please forward the newsletter to other members of the syndicate or send their email addresses to bookkeeper2@pprgolf.co.za. Every month we will include an updated calendar of golf events for the coming weeks. The Caves and the 9th If you have visited Pinnacle Point in the past three months you will no doubt have noticed that the ninth green and surrounds are not as green as the rest of the course, in fact they are a dramatic shade of brown. As part of a directive received from the Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning (DEA&DP) we agreed to stop watering the 9th green, surrounds, the practice putting green and chipping green. Furthermore, we agreed to rehabilitate the putting and chipping green and surrounds with indigenous Fynbos and the 9th green would be lifted and a contained drainage system installed to prevent water seepage into the cave below. We envisaged that the process would have started in July and been complete (including the grow in) by the end of October. Pinnacle Point submitted a plan to the department several months previous, however, the response was late by more than two months and as such the whole process has now been delayed. The archaeologists have an international team starting their investigations in the caves in October and are concerned for the welfare and safety of their scientists with heavy machinery operating directly above the caves. As such, the archeologists have put forward a proposal to DEA&DP requesting that the work above commences at the end of January 2009. We are currently awaiting a response from DEA&DP. We will keep you updated on the events surrounding the 9th in the coming months. Carts There are a large number of homes under construction on the resort which, in today's economic climate, is encouraging. If there are any homeowners thinking about purchasing their own golf cart for use on the resort and golf course, please be reminded that you will need to ensure it is BEIGE in colour in order to use it on the golf course. |
