Junior Golf

A reminder that on Friday afternoons from 15h00,
members are invited to bring
their children for free golf
lessons at the driving range.
We'll teach them a few basics
that are vital for playing
consistent golf and enable them
to give mom and dad a run for their money on the golf course! Liaise with the golf co-ordinator for more information.

Soy and Sesame Salmon

Here's a great recipe ideal for both lunch or dinner. We all love
a fresh piece of salmon, but why serve a plain salmon fillet when you can give it an Oriental twist and still have it on the table in
just 30 minutes? Soy & sesame salmon with warm noodle salad

What you´ll need:

3 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp sesame oil
1 lime , juiced
1 tbsp soft brown sugar
2 skinless salmon fillets      approximately 200 grams      each
100g egg noodles
50g mange tout , shredded      lengthways
1 red pepper , thinly sliced
4 spring onions , sliced

Directions:

Mix the soy sauce, sesame oil
and lime juice with the sugar
until dissolved. Put the salmon in
a freezer bag with half the marinade and leave for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, cook the noodles following the packet instructions. Drain and toss with the remaining marinade, mange tout, pepper and spring onion. Grill the salmon under a hot grill for 5 minutes until glazed and
just cooked through. Some may prefer their salmon medium. Serve with the noodles.

Dear Pinnacle Point Member

We trust you enjoyed the first issue of our new style in house news letter and that you found it interesting, informative and inspiring. As mentioned in our previous newsletter, Ian Norgarb has now left Pinnacle Point and Jason Totos (currently the Director of Golf at Durban Country Club) will be taking up the position of Golf Operations Manager effective 1st of November.

In the interim period Koos Rosslee, Golf Operations Manager at our Clarens golf estate, will be based at Pinnacle Point to assist the team and our members.

We look forward to seeing you on our lush fairways and lounging in the club house in the coming weeks.

Wayne Krambeck

Spring Program

In regards to our Spring Program, that will be taking place this week, we’ve had a number of golf members contact us stating that they were unaware of our maintenance plans.

The Caves and the 9th

If you have visited Pinnacle Point in the past three months you will no doubt have noticed that the ninth green and surrounds are not as green as the rest of the course, in fact they are a dramatic shade of brown.

Carts

There are a large number of homes under construction on the resort which, in today's economic climate, is encouraging. If there are any homeowners thinking about purchasing their own golf cart for use on the resort and golf course, please be reminded that you will need to ensure it is BEIGE in colour in order to use it on the golf course.

Notice Board
Hi all

Can you believe a year has come and gone already since our last Platinum Challenge. We are all looking forward to our second Challenge taking place on the 7th - 9th of November 2008. Please remember to make your reservation with our Platinum PA's ASAP to secure your place in the tournament.

Members who have experienced the pleasure of Pinnacle Point recently have been impressed with how beautiful the course is looking and with the ensuing spring treatment (hollow tining ) the greens will be running true and aesthetically will look even more spectacular.

I should also like to extend a warm welcome to Rayne Olivier, who will be returning to Pinnacle whilst Leta is away on maternity leave. I know that our Platinum members are looking forward to seeing Rayne in action once again and assisting them in her cheerful and friendly manner. On behalf of everyone at the Resort, I would like to wish Leta all the best with the new addition in her life and the many sleepless nights ahead.

Golf Tip
What makes the playing surface at Pinnacle Point so different from other golf courses? What is costing you shots from being short or over the green that will make or brake your round? Pinnacle Point is unique with its narrow and sloped fairways and by understanding the theory and technique behind certain shots, your game will improve rapidly.

Course Report
It is that time of the year again when we need to do Spring Program on the course and most golfers don’t always appreciate the significance of this process and why it must be done not once, but twice a year. Part of the cultural practices that need to be done to keep the greens rolling well and looking good is "hollow tine".
